O’Malley Elementary School was established in 1967, we are tucked away up on the hillside just off O'Malley road. We provide a welcoming, safe, and positive traditional school environment for 342 students kindergarten through sixth grade. Cooperative efforts among teachers, students and parents help provide a program that promotes personal responsibility, develops effective study and work habits that emphasize the acquisition of essential academic skills. O’Malley emphasizes effective staff development driven by student achievement data. We emphasize social and emotional learning so students feel safe to learn play, and develop into positive productive leaders of tomorrow.
Parents play a crucial role in establishing a positive attitude and helping to ensure their children do well in school. O’Malley is fortunate to have an active parent association, PTA, as part of our community based environment. They work together for the benefit of all students, providing support for teachers and many enriching experiences for our students.
We welcome visitors to our school! Come and see us today!
Kelly Eagleton, Principal
About the principal
As the proud Principal of O'Malley Elementary, I am honored to lead the dedicated staff whose commitment to quality education has earned O’Malley Elementary a 5 Star rating from the Department of Education. Our caring and effective teaching staff is skilled in developing rigorous coursework and ensuring a nurturing and supportive learning environment for our students.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about my educational and professional experience. As a member of a Coast Guard family I moved many times, but spent most of my childhood in Alaska, and graduated from Sitka High School. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education and teaching degree from Eastern Washington State University. My passion for educating children inspired me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
I launched my teaching career in Aberdeen Washington, and have also taught in Newport and Spokane Washington school districts. The balance of my career has been with the Anchorage School District, teaching at Rabbit Creek, Spring Hill and Scenic Park Elementary Schools. I have taught primary and intermediate grades and worked on many committees through the years. Most recently, I served as Assistant Principal of Susitna, Chugiak and Muldoon Elementary Schools for the Anchorage School District.
I am eager to partner with you and the O’Malley Elementary community to provide your child the best educational experience possible and to instill in them the love of learning. Please feel free to contact me by phone, email or in person with any celebrations or concerns you would like to share. Our enthusiastic staff and I are looking forward to an exciting and productive year!
